In Gaomi, Shandong province, a playful avatar named ''Xiaolubao'' gives self introductions in English, part of Gaomi Third Experimental Primary School's ''I Speak for My Hometown'' project. Designed by students using AI tools like DeepSeek, this pink-cheeked character symbolizes the town's tech-driven revival of intangible cultural heritage (ICH).

Principal Shi Yuhua highlights how students generate digital versions of Gaomi's clay ''oaring tigers'', Puhui New Year paintings, and paper-cutting through AI. ''AI unlocks creativity while grounding students in their roots,'' she notes.

Aligned with China's 2022 curriculum reforms, Gaomi's schools prioritize hands-on cultural projects. At Xiaozhuang Middle School, Ne Zha 2's popularity inspired vibrant campus murals of the mythical hero, created by students and teachers. Meanwhile, art teacher Gao Xiaohong guides pupils in crafting detailed Ne Zha clay sculptures using traditional techniques, merging heritage with modern artistry.

Gaomi's education strategy fosters individuality so each child ''grows as their own towering tree'', nurturing individuality and strength through cultural pride. By integrating ICH into AI animations, murals, and crafts, the city bridges generational divides, ensuring traditions thrive through youthful innovation. With Xiaolubao's cheerful tales, Gaomi proves that cultural preservation's future lies in empowering the next generation. (Edited by Li Qiaoxingzi)
